PAIN MANAGEMENT

Hypnotherapy for Pain Control

One of the problems with chronic pain management is that the brain habituates to pain-killing drugs, so your body gets used to or immune to the drug, which then requires higher and higher doses. Hypnosis works in a different way, causing the brain to stop responding to pain signals.

The management of chronic pain can be helped greatly by Hypnotherapy and NLP. Psychological approaches such as hypnosis to pain relief have been well documented over the years.

Dr Milton Erickson, a psychiatrist who practiced hypnosis for 60 years, used his own skills in hypnosis for chronic pain which he suffered from Polio over his lifetime.

The Power of NLP and Hypnotherapy to Provide Pain Relief

Your body feels pain because it serves a useful purpose. Pain is a signal from your body to your brain, telling it that something is wrong and causing it to take some sort of action to stop the pain and move away from possible danger. Sometimes, though, people suffer from chronic pain that creates a great deal of stress, anxiety, and discomfort. In these cases, relief can often be found from NLP and hypnotherapy techniques.

About Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is a serious and debilitating pain. If you suffer from this condition you should see your doctor for a complete check up to determine what, if any, medical treatment can help relieve your pain. Once you have identified any and all medical issues, if your chronic pain continues there are additional ways to get the relief you so desperately want and need.

Persistent pain can have devastating effects. You feel tired, frustrated, irritable, and often depressed, as well as anxious, stressed, worried, and fearful. These feelings can be both a result of your chronic pain and factors that contribute to it continuing to exist. In other words, the more you experience chronic pain the more anxious you feel, and the more anxious you feel the more you experience chronic pain. If you can find ways to reduce or eliminate these common feelings and thought patterns, it’s very likely you can reduce or eliminate your chronic pain as well.

It’s not difficult and it’s not time consuming when you have the right tools and an experienced practitioner who can teach you how to use them. These are the tools of NLP and hypnotherapy; direct, straightforward, and extremely effective. You can get the results you want in a relatively short period of time, providing the pain relief you thought was never going to happen.

Finding Relief With NLP And Hypnotherapy

NLP and hypnotherapy are very effective techniques for treating generalised pain, migraine headaches, and providing pain relief and control. Using this approach, your practitioner will help you learn how to consciously alter the thought patterns that contribute to your pain, as well as to unconsciously turn these new patterns into automatic reactions that help reduce or eliminate pain. It’s important to note that not all cases of chronic pain respond fully to NLP and hypnotherapy; however, your practitioner will make every effort to find the combination of techniques that is most likely to provide you with relief.

How Long Will Treatment Take?

The length of treatment you will need of course varies depending on your individual circumstances. In most cases, you will achieve noticeable improvement in a very short period of time, and total success in two to four one-hour sessions. Some clients even achieve their goals in a single one-hour session.

John at John Adamson Hypnotherapy is able to help you relieve the symptoms of chronic pain or, if psychologically based, to assist you relieve them completely. You will learn skills in the session that are encouraged to be used whenever you need them. Many clients quickly harness the power of their unconscious mind to gain relief from pain straight away.

Hypnotherapy

John Adamson Hypnotherapy is run by John Adamson who is a modern clinical hypnotherapist specialising in analytical and suggestive hypnotherapy. His practice is based on the Ericksonian school of hypnotherapy, which uses indirect suggestions to bring about change in a person's life.

Using NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Kinetic Shift techhniques we can bring about rapid change in situations such as fears and phobias, anxiety and panic attacks and much more.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is one of the oldest, complementary health care treatments around. Its benefits have been documented for centuries. Hypnosis dates back to the 1700s but really came into its own in the mid 1900s, thanks to an eminent psychiatrist called Milton Hyland Erickson.

We have a conscious and a sub-conscious mind. Hypnotherapy works on the sub-conscious mind whilst the conscious mind is allowed to rest and relax.

It's important to remember that you remain in control all the time and there are no side effects, with the exception of feeling very relaxed. This natural and wonderful therapy helps so many people cope with the stresses and strains of modern-day living as well as alleviate a host of unhealthy conditions.

Biography

As a former Registered Nurse with 40 years varied experience, John has had an interest in all aspects of holistic care for quite some time. Since retiring from the NHS John now works as a Complimentary Therapist.

His interest in hypnotherapy was sparked while speaking with a colleague who was studying clinical hypnotherapy and it was her enthusiasm about it that convinced him that this was the direction he wanted to take. It seemed such an exciting way to help our patients without experiencing any of the side effects of other traditional therapies. Thus, John went on to undertake the Practitioner Level Training Course in Modern Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy at the Innervisions School of Clinical Hypnosis and qualified in 2013.

As well as a Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist, John is Licensed NLP Practitioner and Rapid Induction TherapistTM certified by the world-class Life-Coach, Therapist and Author, Ali Campbell at Ali Campbell Training and The Society of N.L.P.

John is affiliated to Transformations and offers their unique Weight Management Programme - Naturally Slimmer.

As part of Continuing Professional Development, John completed a course in Kinetic Shift in May 2017, and is now a Kinetic Shift Practitioner.
